2021.12.03 13:15 Machineheadx GSP has turned brown

Hi,
Has anyone experienced this? All other corals in the tank are fine and lighting hasn't changed. I did dose nopox a month ago and now my nitrate doesn't show on the test kit but nothing else in the tank looks to be affected.

2021.12.03 13:15 fickle-minded The Expertise & Gypsum system is AGS' attempt is to maintain revenue, not improve endgame

Let's all put on our tinfoil hats because I'm about to take you on a journey.
The sheer force of impact of my jaw hitting the floor after reading the latest dev post gave me a concussion which activated the hyper-drive mode of my cerebrum and this is what came of it.
We all know the current HWM is an absolutely mindless grind and arguably one of the, if not worst end-game progressions in recent MMO history. This NEEDED to change regardless. But as they announced the expertise/gypsum system (and associated "effectiveness" levels of armor locked to current WM), it seems to me that this is a horrendous attempt to try to fix end game progression AND the maintain long term revenue at the same time but will ultimately result in degradation of the former, and slight stabilization of the latter.
Let me explain.
Given Amazon being the giant corporate behemoth it is, what is their no.1 objective? Revenue.
Because NW does not have a subscription model, their revenue model consists of item shop purchases, so who is their target audience? It's not the hard core sweat who's going to be min/maxed every single patch (they are going to playing 24/7 regardless of all the complaints they post on this sub). It's the casual player who buys the game and maybe makes that $10 token purchase for the Christmas skin pack.
So how do they increase/maintain revenue stream? Keep the casual player base stable and bank on continual microtransactions.
SO, where does this all lead to? The current HWM system is being re-worked to incentivize (force) the targeted player base to continue at the same grind pace once they reach 60 and CONTINUE at that same pace for an X amount of time until they quit. This timespan is going to be on avg, longer than the casual player hitting 60, maxing out on deflated TP equipment, going ham for a week, then calling it a day due to all the game-breaking defects / lack of new content. Although these changes are neatly wrapped up in a nice present box with the "excitement" of daily CDs, random activities to achieve crafting gems, these end-game changes are not geared towards actually improving end game. They are geared towards making people stay in the (end) game longer for more potential touchpoints for microtransactions. I read through the NW data mine and there are a ton of exciting things planned (e.g. tons of new weapons, group finder, mounts?!) but at this rate I am very worried that we will lose so much of the player base that Bezos just says F it, we got the 1mil player launch game purchase already...
If my tinfoil hat was screwed on too tight, it's cause my brain has been slowly melting away after each patch note iteration. As someone who has always been super optimistic on the longevity of this game throughout the shitstorm of feedback, this hurts me to write. I thought I would be playing this game regardless of state for years to come, but if AGS continues to develop this game based on a profit mindset instead of focusing on the core tenants of what makes a good game/MMO, it will not end well..

2021.12.03 13:15 freaee should i buy thatcher or pulse?

I have like 8k renown and im wondering if i should buy thatcher or pulse, ive seen more thatchers than pulse's and the thatchers have been semi-decent but i barely see pulse and when i do they're either trash or a god at the game. I've seen a lot of videos of people doing insane plays with pulse's ability which look mad fun to do and I'm wondering which one i should buy, any solutions?

2021.12.03 13:15 kiesoma Found this gem while solving a UWorld Passage

I think this paragraph sums everything about instinctive answers right. I never related to something more than these lines:

Students are regularly encouraged to "trust your instincts" and "go with your first response" when answering questions involving multiple choice. Despite enormous popular belief that first instincts are more accurate, dozens of experiments have found that they are not necessarily any more so. Endowment bias causes students to overvalue what they already have—their instinctive, first answer to a question—and makes them averse to letting it go. Further complicating matters is the reality that sometimes first responses are indeed correct. After all, every student can recall a time when he changed a first response that later turned out to be right. So when should a student trust his gut and when should he be willing to disregard the endowment effect? The key is likely in metacognition, the ability to "think about one's own thinking," to identify the level of one's certainty concerning the accuracy of his answer. A student who feels confident about a response, whether based on first instinct or revision, is more likely right.
Sounds familiar doesn't it? Yeah.
Make sure to trust your instincts y'all. Especially in Writing -- at-least for me, haha. If you think you're right, you most probably are.
